A Lei de Benefícios da Previdência Social, mais conhecida como Lei de Cotas, estabelece metas do percentual a ser preenchido por pessoas com deficiência nas empresas. O texto estabelece que companhias com cem ou mais funcionários destinem entre 2% e 5% das vagas a essas pessoas.No ano passado, a Lei 8.213 completou 28 anos e, se é possível dizer que ela aumentou a participação de pessoas com deficiência no mercado de trabalho, também é possível constatar que essa participação ainda é pequena. Segundo o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), cerca de 45,6 milhões de brasileiros têm algum tipo de deficiência e menos de 1% desse total, cerca de 403 mil, estão inseridos no mercado de trabalho.
